Out of the rubble of the great recession are emerging all sorts of new ventures and entrepreneurial initiatives. I’ve previously reported on the plethora of new “consulting” organizations that have cropped up, but I just learned of a great new idea. A couple of weeks ago, I met with Lynn Gray--who, most recently, was hailed as chief administrative officer for the Real Estate Group at Lehman--and she told me about her new start-up,Campus Scouts, an outsourcing organization that will represent companies recruiting on campus. With cutbacks on all fronts, most firms large and small will be short-staffed and will have a hard time re-gearing their campus recruiting efforts, which will be bad news for freshly minted graduates, and for a real estate industry that needs to rebuild and attract fresh young talent. I thought this was a wonderful and timely idea, and wanted to let you know about it, as our attention is beginning to focus on the anticipated recovery in 2009 and, hopefully, plans for stocking-up on interns and a new crop of analysts next summer.
